Innovative scheme will make Allesley playtime more imaginative

Children at Allesley Primary School are looking forward to a more imaginative – and drier – playtime, thanks to an innovative scheme launched by leading city estate agent Brian Holt.
The company is planning to raise more than £1,000 to improve playground facilities for the school over the next two years.
The scheme will see Brian Holt donating £100 to the school for every house it sells in the Allesley Primary School catchment area.
Senior valuer Adrian Abbott, who lives locally and whose sons Joshua and Samuel are pupils at the school, says the money will go towards paying for the installation of an all weather surface in a grassy area of the infant playground currently too boggy for the children to use and a gazebo in the junior playground.
Headteacher Bill Parkinson explained: “These two items will help the children enormously. The infants will have more scope to play and a greater ability for imaginative games if they’re able to include the area which is currently often too sodden to be useable. And the gazebo, as well as enabling the children to play outside and benefit from the fresh air when it is raining, will also be used during lessons for things like circle time, when children discuss social and personal issues, or as a quiet area for more sedate play.
“We’re delighted that Brian Holt has come up with this exciting scheme and do appreciate help from local firms as it reinforces the link between education and business and enables the youngsters to realise that their school is part of a wider community.”
Adrian Abbott added: “We wanted to do something to help young children in the area where we work. As we sell so many houses in the village it makes sense to give something back to the community which has put its trust in our professional services. Although the bulk of the donations will be made from people selling homes through Brian Holt within the Allesley catchment we would also like to include the friends and relations of children at the school living elsewhere in Coventry so they too can help support the children who are important to them.”
