Innovative scheme will feed pupils’ minds

Children at Kenilworth’s Priors Field School are looking forward to a library brimming over with new books - thanks to an innovative scheme launched by town estate agent Brian Holt.
The agency is planning to raise more than £2,000 to buy new books for the school over the next 18 months– and has kickstarted the project with a £250 donation for an initial clutch of reading material.
The scheme will see Brian Holt donating £100 to the school for every house it sells in the Priors Field priority area. Branch manager Julie Philpot aims to sell around 20 homes between now and July 2008 under the scheme.
“We believe in supporting the local community and sell a good many houses in the Priors Field area,” explained Julie. “We thought it would be good to give something to the school which provides educational and pastoral care to the children living in the houses we sell – many of whom move to that area specifically to go to Priors Field.
“We’re not confining our donations just to homes within the geographical catchment area. We’re also going to be making donations to the fund when we sell properties elsewhere in the town belonging to anyone with a family association with the school – This could include grandmas living in Thornby Avenue, say, or people with older children who’ve moved elsewhere in the town.
