You’ve made the decision – you are putting your home on the market for sale. So what do you do to make your home even more appealing to potential purchasers? We receive feedback on a daily basis from potential purchasers so we know what they like and what they don’t like! Here are a few thoughts and tips:
Complete all those small touch up jobs you’ve had on your list – there is nothing worse than a bit of skirting missing or not painted.
Clean inside and out – this may seem obvious – but first impressions go a long way.
De-clutter - have a good sort out, go through every room and decide what you would like to keep and what you can get rid of. We’re not saying get rid of all your possessions, but clearer, tidier surfaces are good.
De-personalise so that prospective purchasers have a blank canvas – not everyone will like that bright purple wall!
Present your home with flowers and clean smells - bring the outside in – may be add some house plants too.
Organise inside cupboards and wardrobes – don’t ram anything you’re clearing away into them - don’t forget prospective purchasers may request to look inside!
Give each room a purpose – sell the lifestyle in your home – tell them how you use the room.
Think about the area you live in, and although you might be moving, think of all the things that attracted you to buy the house that might be useful information to the next owner.
Good luck – of course most good agents will offer to carry out viewings for you – it is less personal than being shown around by a vendor and potential purchasers will be more relaxed looking around.
If you’re thinking of putting your property on the market, accompanied viewing is one of the services we offer here at Brian Holt Estate Agents.
